«Regeneration of the alveolar bone after autotransplantation of developing teeth»
Autotransplantation of teeth is a well-established procedure for the replacement of missing or lost teeth. The lecture will provide information about planning and performing autotransplantation according to the protocol for developing teeth. The description of the standardized surgical technique and factors which may influence the treatment outcome will be given and dicussed.
Alveolar bone preservation and regeneration is an important and extremely promising aspect of this treatment modality. It will be demonstrated, using clinical examples, that developing teeth may in some cases serve as a natural providers of bone growth and may help in regeneration of the alveolus in patients with bone defects. Moreover, the problem of ectopic immature teeth (especially second premolars and lower canines) will be discussed with regard to the trans-alveolar transplantation of such teeth.
